Good Evening!
Have you checked out the YearlyKos blogad to the right?
We have 196 donors who have given an average of $45 dollars each. Thanks to our generous friends!
And speaking of generous friends, Markos has donated to YearlyKos copies of the special "Progressive Partner" edition of Crashing the Gate, and we're giving four of them away to the next four people who Crash that 200 donor wall for YearlyKos.
I just got my copy of
Crashing the Gate in the mail today. I was giddy opening the package, first, because I just love books. I love the smell of a new book. I love the feel of turning pages. I am an absolute book junkie. But there was some extra excitement as well.
I feel proud that the book I have is the "Progressive Partner" edition. The first page has a letter from Markos and Jerome thanking us, their "friends," for "helping to get the word out."
Alone, my $25 wasn't much, but together with thousands of others, my $25 is making a difference. My contribution is helping to provide resources for promoting
Crashing the Gate.
I'm proud for "helping to get the word out" because the ultimate message of Crashing the Gate is optimistic. It certainly, ummm, spares no rod in describing the sorry state of politics in some corners. But in the end we are reminded of the actions of the netroots and the grassroots who have had enough of the old way. Crashing the Gate foreshadows a future where regular people, folks like you and me, have a real voice in our government. People-Powered Politics are ready to take over if we are ready to seize the moment and take responsibility.
I've worked on the YearlyKos project for over 14 months now. Our community is awesome. Our volunteers inspire me with their generous spirit and amaze me with their incredible talent. Volunteering for YearlyKos has been a humbling and uplifting experience for me. Through my experience with YearlyKos I've come to believe that we regular people have always had everything we've needed to make a difference in our world if we can just decide to pool our resources and work together. With People-Powered YearlyKos we are taking an important early step in building our own Progressive Infrastructure that belongs to We the People.
So its appropriate that as we crash that 200 donor wall, a wall we have been approaching with painful slowness today, that we would give away copies of Crashing the Gate to push forward and commemorate the event.
The netroots is still growing. Your donation will help pay for the third deposit installment for the YearlyKos Convention. The YearlyKos Convention will announce our presence to political powerhouses and opinion makers with an amplified voice by demonstrating our talent and showing that we are capable of achieving specific goals on a national scale. The effect will be bigger than the event itself.
But being People-Powered means we don't have access to the types of donors who are willing to lay down huge chunks of money to underwrite this. So we have to be willing to invest in ourselves. That means we need your donation to make YearlyKos a reality.
Please be a Gate Crasher and donate to YearlyKos.
Thanks,
Gina Cooper
