This is more than likely the highly anticipated announcement that former Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Jim Pederson will take on incumbent Kyl next year.
Pederson had previously told the media that he will make a decision on whether or not to run against Kyl by mid-September of this year.
The Arizona Republic recently stated:
If Pederson enters that race, it will be the most expensive political contest in Arizona history. Kyl has already raised $3.6 million for his campaign war chest in anticipation of a Pederson candidacy.
and this...
Republicans say Pederson's possible jump into the Senate race would help the GOP in the 2006 governor's race because he won't give an additional $4 million to the state party like he did in 2002. Many credit Pederson's vast financial resources for putting Napolitano over the top in 2002 in a razor-thin victory over Republican Matt Salmon.
I encourage everyone to support and contribute to Pederson's looming candidacy. Recent poll numbers have been encouraging for Pederson, and with him running, there is a strong possibility of a Senate pickup for the Dems in the red state of AZ!
