Your reaction is probably, "well, DUH..." but rarely do we get more than a bite size piece of the ass backwards world that Dear Leader is living in directly from the jackasses mouth. But last night,
ABC's Elizabeth Vargas had a one on one "interview" that she must have needed a shower afterwards due to the power packed brick of crap slung at her.
The 21st Century record for "most lies and bullshit spewed in one sitting" covered many of "Bu$hCo's greatest fuckups" of the past few years - ranging from Katrina to Iraq to the port deal to his good friend "Warren Terrah" to Pakistan to the economy to abortion, and while I purposely did not watch, I did read the entire transcript and watched some of the, um, "lowlights".
More below:
First up, Katrina lies:
You know, Katrina has left a legacy, and the question is will we be willing to learn from the lessons. And that's exactly what you're beginning to see happening. We ordered a report right after Katrina hit. I said let us take a look at how better to prepare for the next disaster. And the government has been, one, very quick to analyze and, two, has now got a whole list of suggestions on which to implement in order so that we can do a better job and future presidents can learn from the lessons of Katrina.
Nothing to see here, move on. Take no blame - others will learn the lessons.
Listen, here's the problem that happened in Katrina. There was no situational awareness, and that means that we weren't getting good, solid information from people who were on the ground, and we need to do a better job. One reason we weren't is because communications systems got wiped out, and in many cases we were relying upon the media, who happened to have better situational awareness than the government.
WRONG!!! You, Chimpy McLiar are officially (once again) having bullshit called on you. Not to mention the fact that New Orleans is east of Crawford, but you travelled west for 4 days after the storm hit.
Next up, the head-in-the-sand approach to Iraq - where EXACTLY what he was warned about is coming to fruition. Consider this bit of news regarding the warnings that the White House got back in 2003 about the prospects for a civil war:
In an article distributed by Knight Ridder's Washington bureau late Tuesday, Warren Strobel and Jonathan Landay report that U.S. intelligence agencies repeatedly warned the White House, starting in 2003, "that the insurgency in Iraq had deep local roots, was likely to worsen and could lead to civil war, according to former senior intelligence officials who helped craft the reports."
Among the warnings was a National Intelligence Estimate completed in October 2003 that concluded the insurgency was fueled by local conditions - not foreign terrorists- and drew strength from deep grievances, including the presence of U.S. troops. Its existence had not been previously disclosed to a wide public audience.
"The reports received a cool reception from Bush administration policymakers at the White House and the office of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, according to the former officials, who discussed them publicly for the first time," Landay and Strobel relate.
"President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld and others continued to describe the insurgency as a containable threat, posed mainly by former supporters of Saddam Hussein, criminals and non-Iraqi terrorists - even as the U.S. intelligence community was warning otherwise."
Now read the total lies and bullshit shoveling done here:
VARGAS: What is the policy if, in fact, a civil war should break out or the sectarian violence continues? Are you willing to sacrifice American lives to get the Sunnis and the Shiites to stop killing each other?
BUSH: I don't buy your premise that there's going to be a civil war. There's no question that the bomber of the mosque is trying to create sectarian violence, and there's no question there was reaction to it. On the other hand, I had the duty, which I did, to call these leaders, Shi'a and Sunni leaders, as well as Kurdish leaders.
Damn, he won't even admit the painfully obvious. Can't even take responsibility for this gigantic clusterfuck he himself created. And all he can say is that he had the duty to call people and tell them to stop killing each other. HIM? But the smugness is oozing through - "I had the duty, which I did" - so piss off for even questioning me. Not only that, but what did he do before picking up the phone to make a couple of calls?
More, if you can stand it:
VARGAS: But what is the plan if the sectarian violence continues? I mean, do the U.S. troops take a larger role? Do they step in more actively to stop the violence?
BUSH: No. The troops are chasing down terrorists. They're protecting themselves and protecting the people, and -- but a major function is to train the Iraqis so they can do the work. I mean the ultimate success in Iraq -- and I believe we're going to be successful -- is for the Iraqi citizens to continue to demand unity.
VARGAS: So let me make sure I understand you. No matter what happens with the level of sectarian violence, the U.S. troops will stay there?
BUSH: The U.S. troops will stay there so long as -- until the Iraqis can defend themselves. I mean, my policy has not changed. To summarize it, as the Iraqis stand up, we will stand down.
And as you know, we've reduced troop levels this year, and that's because our commanders on the ground have said that the security situation in Iraq is improving because the Iraqis are more capable of taking the fight.
LIAR!!! Do you mean this security situation getting better?
Or maybe you mean this one?
Or how about this security situation?
And THAT is TIME's latest article, which starts out like this
The past six days of violence that have convulsed Iraq since the bombing of the al-Askariya shrine last week could be much worse than Iraqi and Coalition officials have admitted. The Washington Post reported Tuesday that more than 1,300 bodies had been delivered to the Baghdad morgue, directly challenging the Iraqi government's assertion that 216 people had been killed around the country since the Wednesday bombing of the al-Askariya shrine in Samarra.
Hundreds of bodies were packed into the morgue, the paper reported, and wailing relatives clustered around the doorway hoping to claim the body of a loved one. Meanwhile, Sunni leaders seethed at the assault on their community, and said they weren't surprised that the number of people reportedly killed was much higher than official figures: "They never give the right number," said Saleh Mutlak, a leading Sunni politician. "Because they are the killers. Their militias are the killers."
Or maybe he can ask Colin Powell what he thinks about the security situation.
Even better, how about asking the troops on the ground what they think?
And what about this bit of news that you damn well know about????
But this is my favorite - in talking about how his mind is made up about the Dubai Port deal, regardless of the fact that Homeland Security didn't approve of the deal due to security concerns.
BUSH: And I want the American people to understand, if I thought in any way that a foreign company managing terminals would cause us to be less secure, I would, I would object strongly.
VARGAS: But you haven't prejudged the 45-day security review. If in fact, there are still concerns, even if you don't share them --
BUSH: Well, there's a difference -- well, there's a difference between somebody who has made up their mind regardless of the facts, and the facts, and so I want to hear what -- again, I want to see the same facts presented to the Congress, and -- but the 45-day period is a, is a good opportunity for people to find out the facts.
Gee, I don't know which is funnier - the fact that he is actually saying that about other people when it really applies to him, or the fact that he is probably the only person on earth that doesn't see the irony in that....
Lastly, his views on the SD abortion law and the SCOTUS - he is spinning so hard you would think his head (which we know isn't screwed on too tight to begin with) would just come flying off. The contradictions are just maddening:
VARGAS: Finally, Mr. President, one last question. Just a few days ago, the legislature in South Dakota passed the most restrictive abortion law in this country with the intention, they say, of getting that all the way to the Supreme Court. They would like the Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
Will your administration file a friend of the court brief on that?
BUSH: I haven't paid attention to that, to this particular issue you're talking about. I can tell you I will put people on the Court without a litmus test. In other words, I haven't said to these judges, you know, "Give me your opinion on this case if it would be coming your way." And, you know, their job is to strictly interpret the Constitution.
So, if we are to believe this line of crap, then wouldn't the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and tenth amendments have not been trampled on by these "strict interpreters"?
Jeez, it's enough to make your head explode.
I will leave you with a riddle (answer comes if you follow the link):
How many people does it take to protect the biggest living terrorist and war criminal in the world?
