Obama Slings Himself under the Bus - Patriot Act Reauthorization Vote

Just got the latest in from Raw Story - the Senate voted 95-4 to reauthorize the Patriot Act.  Send some love to the following four Senators who valued civil liberties over constantly being frightened by the Federal Government:

Russ Feingold
Robert Byrd
Tom Harkin
James Jeffords

You will notice that Senator Barack Obama is not listed with those who voted against the Patriot Act.  Nor is he listed as a Senator who abstained from the vote like Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii.  The Democrats "Brightest" star sold out with the rest of the no-cajones Democrats, which also include Minority Leader Harry Reid and DSCC Capo Chuck Schumer.

We keep hoping for the Democrats to surprise us with a spine, and they always disappoint us by being the jellyfish they really are.

I had high hopes for Obama - and he's trashed them royally.  And do no give me that schtick that he's a Freshman Senator - he had that status when he got sworn in last January.  And don't give me that "he's not DLC" mess, either.  He was just better at lying about it.

I will await the flames on this one.  But the House may delay this because both versions of this bill must be identical, so we'll have to see.

But I'm not holding my breath on this.  What will it take to wake up this party and goad them into fighting back?
