In Canada, Senators are appointed and not elected so the fall out from her comments will not be fatal. It will provide some rather embarrassing moments though for the idtiot we currently have as PM as he tries to show his solid Conservative creds to his counterparts south of the border
The issue of the seal hunt in Canada and globally has become extremely sensitive and frankly I agree with the outrage expressed by the American couple. I wish that the seal hunt would end once and for all. What is interesing is the rather heated response from the Senator. IMHO her words illustrate the level of frustration felt by many in Canada regarding the Bush Administration and the policies he has been pursuing.
The Senator is refusing to retract or apologize for her comments and while no one is demanding she retreat, there are several stammering words like "unfortunate" and "repairing relationships"
