Local Wisconsin TV station poll
"Should the U.S. immediately withdraw its troops from Iraq?"
Our city will vote on a referendum April 4: The U.S. should begin immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq starting with the National Guard and Reserve.
We are working for an overwhelming "yes" vote but just the fact that our local media is finally covering some of the issues is a win.
Tuesday night our U.S. Representative, Ron Kind, who promised a session on Iraq, faced a hostile crowd at a local high school.
- more below -
About 200 people attended. The last "listening session" Kind had on Iraq was September 2003 when about 200 people said DO NOT give this nutty president authority to wage endless war.
Ron Kind crossed his fingers when he voted for that "war" resolution in 2003. He has immunity from blame now because he wrote a letter to Bush telling him to be careful.
But as one speaker pointed out Tuesday night, he's voted for every "war" appropriation since (but Tuesday night he did unveil his "Five Point PLAN.")
The best part was, the crowd was a wonderful mix of citizens - elderly military veterans who just barely made it to the microphone, grey-braided veteran peace activists, students, parents, ... Only 3 to 5 of the ?70? or so speakers wanted to "stay the course."
Kind is good on environment and education but on many other issues he is a DINO. His yes vote was critical in passing the new and improved patriot act. He voted for the bankruptcy bill.
We'd love to find a challenger for him but so far no luck.
In the meantime, vote in this little "unscientific poll" and help us sway the vote on April 4.
Thanks.
