WASHINGTON -- A book co-authored by Rep. Rahm Emanuel that lays out a broad set of ideas to revive the Democratic Party is scheduled to be released in the months leading up to the congressional elections in November.
Emanuel (D-Ill.), chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said the book would articulate forward-looking principles for the party. It is not intended to be a specific road map of the party's election strategy for winning the House and Senate, he said.
"It's not a campaign book," Emanuel said. "It has bigger ideas about policies and solutions to our problem."

The book has been in the works for about a year, he said, and it is about two-thirds finished. The timing of publication--it is to be released in advance of the midterm elections--was by design.
