...on an issue, you'd better watch out for plunging knives.
Atrios, for instance, gloats this morning that Malkin "runs away" from supporting Red Stater Ben Domenech. So, the "left" gets it scalp, and in so doing just helped reconfirm the low level of political discourse that already existed pre-bloggyland and has given us the lickspittle-fest we have now. Status quo maintained.
The problem is obvious. By the same set of standards - if plagairism is worth getting fired for, then getting a blowjob from someone other than your wife should be grounds for impeachment (or at least provide "grounds" for wingnuts to scream about it
all day long on CNN). And on and on ad ad infinitum....
I want to ask the liberals/mlw'ers/kossacks, who rooted this scalping onward in such a fashion is - who do they think would makes an "appropriate" political candidate? Really, I mean it - if something that isn't even a felony necessitates dismissal from a job, who will be squeeky clean enough to avoid being "scandal-worthy" (as far as the media is concerned), horsewhipped, and/or sacrified-to-the-Rancor in the sphere of public opinion. Are there enough of these squeaky clean people willing to run for office? Enough to fill the entire ranks of a party? Am I "good" enough to be part of that party (or at least to vote for it)? Are you? Are we?
