An out-of-state letter appeared in our local paper last week, concluding with: "Our public education system continues to require more of our tax money while producing declining academic results and increasing social problems.
The only viable solution is to separate school and state and return to a tried and proven free market in education..." (emphasis mine) You can read the entire letter

This letter, from Dominick Odorizzi of Northridge, CA, appeared in these 4 papers, and my local paper, the Chelsea (MI) Standard, which doesn't have letters on-line. Did anyone else see this somewhere? I'm trying to point out the degree to which this was sent out and would welcome any pointers.
While the likelihood of banning public education entirely is nonexistent, this is clearly a case of widening the attack on any public good or resource. I'm not sure if this guy is working together with a group or alone, but it's definitely an attempt to undermine support for our educational system. When I first read it I didn't think it would merit a response, as it was so off-the-wall, but when I googled it and found it published in so many other places, I realized this guy is serious about promoting his views. I also found a link to where he signed a "pro-global warming" petition that claimed that CO2 was beneficial and no harmful effects have been proven.
