Ok, I have to admit; I'm a bit - uh - slow.
I have a membership card from DENSA to prove it.
And yet.......
And yet, I read here that a Blackstone, MA, had it's water treatment plant broken into thusly
Officials said someone cut barbed wire to enter the facility late Monday
Oh, well; kids will be kids!
Won't they? (more below the fold)
Only if the kids, after cutting the barbed wire, proceeded to
cut the lines to an alarm, and then damaged an electrical panel and a vent at the top of a 1.3-million-gallon storage tank.
Ok, maybe they were college electrical engineering majors trying to prove how vulnerable the town, of 9,000, was to an attack.
Weren't they?
They must have been clever kids, because
North Smithfield Town Administrator Robert Lowe said Tuesday that the sophistication of the break-in unnerved him.
And then, to (pardon the pun) top it off, they left a 5-gallon container full of foul smelling something or other on top of the water tank, next to the vent that they had pried open.
And while the MA Department of Environmental Protection said:
"until further notice, residents should not ingest or have the water contact their skin, and should not wash clothes or dishes; flushing of toilets is permissible."
which would indicate to me that they feared contamination of the town's water supply,
Authorities have ruled out terrorism, and the FBI has decided not to pursue the case, Dr. David Gifford, director of the Rhode Island Health Department, said Tuesday at a news conference.
I must be missing something.
The Amish are spied on by the FBI for advocating peace, and they are classed as possible terrorists, but someone breaking into a water plant, cutting the alarm wires, opening a water tank and leaving a container full of who-knows-what by the opening isn't possible terrorism?
WTF?
