The DNC is planning on a massive 50-state canvass on April 29th (posted on the
DNC site and
blogged about on dKos). The DNC was kind enough to put up an
image of the doorhanger going out, which contains the "Democratic Vision," which is as follows:
1) Honest leadership and open government
2) Real Security
3) Energy independence
4) Economic prosperity and educational excellence
5) A healthcare system that works for everyone
6) Retirement security
For this election cycle, I think these are great points. Yesterday the Dems unveiled their big
Real Security plan, which was greeted by the Traditional Media with a deafening silence. Although it is imperfect, as any such proposal would be, it goes a long way towards developing a strong Democratic position on security issues. The upside to all this is that the Dems can certainly claim that they have a message, at least for the next few months.
The only downside is the presence of the immediately tired slogan, "Together, America Can Do Better." This focus study nightmare should never have been allowed to see the light of day. It is one of the most insipid, uninspiring, wishy-washy political slogans I've ever heard, and Dean would do well to retire it as soon as possible.
