[UPDATE: We are now up to 77!!! James Leach (Iowa) just signed! If he's yours, tell him thanks, guys and gals! Woo-hoo!]
Yesterday I posted a diary about HR 543, a bill that would allow the consideration of H J Res 55 and 17 hours of debate on Iraq.
DC for Democracy recently started a nationwide, grassroots campaign called "Change the Course" -- and with the blessing of DFA we have just expanded from 3 pilot states to 30 states. We have been lobbying Reps here in DC (since we have no reps who can sign on, we're helping you!), and local DFA groups in other states, like MD, CA, NY, PA, CT, MN, and NJ, are lobbying in their home districts.
There are now 76 signatories -- up from 72 yesterday.
More on the flipside...
The 4 new signers:
73. Mike Thompson (D-CA)
74. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA)
75. Edward J. Markey (D-MA)
76. Nita Lowey (D-NY)
Methinks some of you have been calling and visiting your Reps -- keep it up! We need 218 according to House rules. For max effect, visit your Rep's home office during the April 10-23 recess. And if the new Reps are YOUR Reps, give them a resounding Thank You.
I updated my diary from yesterday, but in case you missed it, the full audio of Neil Abercrombie's conference call with DCFD/DFA is available on DC for Democracy's website. Worth a listen to the whole thing, some money quotes toward the end. When you get to DCFD's page it's in the second news item.
Keep checking our site for updates and for our lobbying kit.
We got the mo-jo goin'!
