Hummm I found this interesting and at the same time I found a wierd sort of pleasure of it happening to Republicans.

They pulled it at the last minute in order to try to keep Democratic sponsored legislation from being sent to the Gov with enough time left to over a veto if he vetoed any.

The display came on the most tense day of the 2006 General Assembly session, with just 90 minutes remaining for Democrats to get legislation to the governor's desk and still leave time for a future override vote, should Ehrlich choose to veto the bills.
It seems that if the Republicans can't have their way they cry like a baby and take their marbles and leave.

"We know we're outnumbered, vote wise. We know we have no control. Now they won't even let us participate," Sen. Nancy Jacobs (R-Harford) said after leaving the chamber. "I'm ready to go home."
It appears that the MD Democrats have been studying the tactics of our Washington Republicans and playing the game by their rules. Imagine the fact that the MD Republicans don't like it when the rolls are reversed.

Speeches on the bill consumed three rancor-filled hours, with Democrats voting at various points to suspend their rules and to cut off debate when it appeared Republicans were poised to filibuster. Miller, who is the nation's longest-serving Senate president and prides himself on maintaining firm control of the chamber, pushed through a motion to limit debate, over Republican objections.
I can tell you this much the whole article( two pages) is well worth the read.
I am not saying that I agree with all the action or methods of the MD Democratic party, but just found it interesting when a situation comes up where the roles have been reversed.
