Experience:
Derek Casady has been a Democratic leader and a progressive, grassroots activist for 40 years. He is a graduate of Stanford Unversity and a Navy Veteran. He worked for 6 years as a journalist. He spent 10 years a legislative assistant to the President of the California Senate. He owned and operated an organic food grocery store. He recently was project manager in charge of building a sustainable, passive/active solar, organic food cooperative OB Peoples that is a model sustainable, commercial building in San Diego County.
Progressive Values:
Derek stands for a woman't right to choose, universal health care, withdrawal of our troops from Iraq, sustainable energy policies, fair taxes - keeping the estate tax, raising the capital gains tax and increasing the ceiling on social security contributions - honest elections, civil rights, worker rights, public financing of campaigns and the Department of Peace.
Current Projects:
He is currently part of the San Diego Committee for the establishment of the
Department of Peace. He is on the San Diego Committee working to keep fraudulent voting machines out of
California.
Grassroots organizing experience
He has worked extensively for Public Financing of Campaigns. He has walked precincts, held fundraisers and consulted on numerous local, state and national campaigns. Derek has been married to Nancy Casady for 35 years. He has 5 children and 4 grandchildren.
Derek will courageously stand up for progressive values - the values that support the majority of Americans.
