I know we've done this over and over again. I know it feels like we are pounding our heads on a wall. But, I know that each of us has seen cracks starting to appear in that wall. As painful and frustrating as it will be we must continue the fight. Tomorrow is a big day to control the spin of the Intelligence Committee's decision not to investigate the NSA's warrant-less wiretapping program. We need to flood local papers with our outrage. We need to make people who are unengage sit-up and take notice. We do that with more LTE's!
More on the flip...
I've only posted this in three different diaries, so you may not have seen it. But, I'm encouraging everyone with a few minutes, (you are here aren't you?) to write a letter to the editor using the
DNC's LTE Tool
Then you can post your LTE here, so that other people can get good ideas. Here's mine:
Today the Senate Intelligence Committee voted along party lines against investigating the NSA's warrant-less wiretapping program. Our own Lindsey Graham, spoke harshly of the program early on, but was eventually cowed by his only real constituent, the Bush administration. Time and time again we see so called "moderate" republicans talk tough, and then back down when the American people need them to stand up. A senate investigation was the common sense way for congress to fulfill its' obligation as a check on the executive branch. Unfortunately, congressional republicans are too afraid of harming the Bush administration, that they cannot even perform basic oversight functions. Senator Graham has once again shown that his tough talk is nothing more than pandering to keep his "moderate" label.
Remember, the spin battle will be won in the coming days, and we can't afford to lose this one.
