Will P.A. Democrats help Santorum, I am not sure they aren't already. The Washington Post seems to be pushing a wedge issue we have seen to many times, abortion. Read on>>>
With Santorum behind Casey in the polls, The Post seems to be pushing for Santorum. Ay least that is what I got out of this piece.
Now before you all go off on me like you did on the Clack Diary, I have no use for Rick Santorum. To me he is one step below G.W.
He endured widespread criticism when it was learned in 2004 that Pennsylvania paid about $70,000 through an online program to educate his children at their home in Leesburg
Santorum authored a book that demonizes women that have to work to help support their children, and for sending their kids to public schools.
Santorum bristles at attacks stemming from his 2005 book, "It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good." In it, Santorum wrote: "It's amazing that so many kids turn out to be fairly normal, considering the weird socialization they get in public schools."
Regarding two-income families, he wrote: "For some parents, the purported need to provide things for their children simply provides a convenient rationalization for pursuing a gratifying career outside the home. Many women . . . find it easier, more 'professionally' gratifying, and certainly more socially affirming, to work outside the home. . . . Here, we can thank the influence of radical feminism."
Rick Santorum is slime and most of Pennsylvania knows it, but we need some one who will become aggressive when it is brought to them. Casey says that he has learned his lesson about holding off on striking back, when an opponent gets dirty. Let's hope so.
About Santorum's book Casey said: "I know a lot of Republicans who have two incomes, and they need the second income. . . . They also send their kids to public schools." This is the equivalent of saying, I have black friends.
What worries me is the fact that people have already started dividing the democratic party over what the republicans use to split the country in "04", abortion.
Casey's abortion stance "may dampen some of the enthusiasm for Santorum" among conservatives, said Stephen K. Medvic, a political scientist at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa... "But he's got his own problem: Is there going to be excitement at the [Democratic] grass roots" for his candidacy?
In a largely symbolic gesture, two abortion-rights groups have endorsed one of Casey's little-known Democratic rivals in the May 16 primary.
With his answer on another wedge issue I think that Casey shows that isn't real sure of himself. He might have better to dodge this one.
Casey said he would reluctantly support a constitutional amendment to ban desecration of the U.S. flag, "if that's the only way we could get there."
Not real sure what he meant by that, because the only way to get there is through an amendment. With that said, I will hope for a Casey win. I like a lot of what he has on the table, like apposing Tax-cuts, building a stronger public education and shrinking the deficit. Two things that Casey has to keep in mind, Santorum is closing the gap,(Bush was down in "04") and Santorum is a strong finisher.
