The chickadees and titmice are singing, the tulips and dogwoods are blooming, Leiberman is running scared, and 76% in a Hartford Courant/Connecticut
poll disapprove of Bush.
Who could ask for anything more?
I always feel a bit of a spark this time of year. Of course, this winter wasn't especially harsh, but cold is cold and snow is snow; so in spite of still-chilly nights, the pleasant 60-degree days are inspiring.
But this year, and this is even more inspiring, we are seeing a rebirth of sorts in Connecticut politics as Ned Lamont infects us with his enthusiasm and determination. As we move closer to the May convention, I have more and more confidence that Lamont is going to find his way into the primary. We see more and more statements like this one (from the Hartford Courant):
McNamara estimates that more than half of New Britain's 31 delegates are leaning toward backing Lamont.
Sure there is work to do, but we're ready. And the spring in my step was enhanced this morning when the top-of-the-fold headline on buzzflash was: In Connecticut Poll, Bush's Approval is down to 24%. I'm betting Leiberman wept when he saw the article in the Courant.
Spring in Connecticut.
Sure is sweet.
