already diaried about the national anthem issue, about the "Spanish version" that's come about.
I want to expand on this and say we should use it as a wedge issue to pin Bush and the Republicans against the wall.

The Daily Clips:
Attention Democrats: Please use this. Please. Prime opportunity for a political "wedge" issue here. A new hot sports opinion from Bush:
The national anthem should be sung in English -- not Spanish -- President Bush declared Friday, amid growing restlessness over the millions of immigrants here illegally.
"One of the things that's very important is, when we debate this issue, that we not lose our national soul," the president exclaimed. "One of the great things about America is that we've been able to take people from all walks of life bound as one nation under God. And that's the challenge ahead of us."
A Spanish language version of the national anthem was released Friday by a British music producer, Adam Kidron, who said he wanted to honor America's immigrants.
I'll set aside that it was released by a
British music producer, but if this isn't a way to pin Bush and the Republicans behind a wall, and to win over a vast swath of the Hispanic vote, I don't know what is.
So, George. Why do you think the national anthem should be sung in English only? We'll lose our "national soul" if it isn't? So that means that if you don't speak English you have no American "soul"? What about all those immigrants who built this country? I bet a lot of them didn't speak English.
And while you're answering that, George, answer me this: Should English be the official language of the United States? Why not put your money where your mouth is and put that bill through Congress?
We should be out there pressing him on this.
