My impressions upon viewing "Loose Change"
It finally happened - I watched "Loose Change 2nd Edition". This is a very powerful documentary that I would strongly recommend. I watched the movie here; there are scores of other places on the web where it is available for download.
In terms of the data collected I can not say I got to learn much as most of the facts mentioned there have already been mentioned in my
9/11 collection or on the sites linked to in my blogroll (see on the left-had side on
my site). The film does, however, present a powerful summation of the facts and is very well made from a cinematographic perspective. It presents a very powerful argument to the effect that the 9/11 had a truly minuscule chance of happening the way the official theory would have us believe - in a word, that the official theory is a sham. The evidence to the effect that the Bush Administration engineered the tragic events of that day is largely circumstantial and I do not find it sufficiently convincing - neither as presented by the film, nor evidence to that effect from elsewhere, such as Michael C. Ruppert's excellent book
Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil and other sources. It must be noted, however, that circumstantial evidence of poorer quality has been used in court many a time to successfully prosecute many a criminal suspect.
All that notwithstanding I would never pronounce anyone guilty unless I am in posession of overwhelming evidence to that effect, unless I am sure beyond any and all reasonable doubt. But knowing that we have been lied to is reason enough to demand the truth; even more so when our government proclaims that those lies are from now on the reason for dramatic changes in our foreign and domestic policy, that it is reason enough to cut down on our human rights and domestic liberties, reason enough to abbrogate both domestic and international laws.
One mistake the team that produced "Loose Change" is making is failing to consider scenarios other than the "official version" and "Bush engineered it". There may be other scenarios - for instance, some group, domestic or foreign, infiltrated the US government and law enforcement enough to neutralize it and carry out the 9/11. In the aftermath of the attack the US government might be trying to conceal this level of infiltration in order to avoid making the whole world aware of the extent of its vulnerability.
While the Bush administration may have benefited from the event, it is not a given that they had engineered it or had precise advance knowledge. They may have merely been waiting for the event gambling on being able to use it to their advantage. It is also likely that they didn't want for anyone to seriously impede it - which may be why they were not very supportive of their own law enforcement officers trying to chase down relevant leads.
The Twin Towers were most likely destoyed in a controlled demolition - but it is not a given that it was the terrorists that planted the explosives; maybe, they were preplanted in order to make sure the towers never fall sideways burying many city blocks in case of an earthquake or any other disaster, with the controlled demolition available as a measure of last resort. But the question then is, of couse - who pushed the button and why, even when it was relatively clear that extinguishing fires caused by the aircraft hitting the towers was within reach.
All those scenarios and likely many more are worth considering. As Jeff Wells very intelligently observes, there are some truly remarkable coincidences to be considered by anyone who intends to seriously study the 9/11. And there is lots and lots of work ahead for those trying to get at the truth of those events.
However, as Charlie Sheen put it, "the worm is turning." And majority of those polled on the issue seem to agree with him. And that is a very hopeful sign.
"Loose Change" was produced by a young and energetic team who have done an oustanding job. Once again, I highly recommend it. Watch it - and if you like it, spread the word.
