Mr Kerry I am 67 years old and I have some questions for you.
Sir if you would please try to put my mind at rest.
First let me say that back in 1966 I was already protesting
the VN War before you came back and started protesting it. I
will forever be grateful to you for your efforts in the antiwar
demonstrations after your return. I have always had a good
feeling in my heart toward you for that as well as all the
great things you have helped to get enacted since you went to
Washington.
My questions to you now sir has nothing to do with my admiration
for you, but rather has more to do with your high profile within
not only our Democratic party but also our government. They are
below the fold.
1 .. How do I ever explain to my grand children and great grandchildren
why we stood by keeping our powder dry while our country was stolen
and destroyed?
2 .. How do I ever explain to them how we have allowed a President
to be able to declare war when he desires for what ever reason instead
of fighting against this with every tool and source available to us?
3 .. How do I ever explain that we as a nation willing because of
fear gave up almost if not all of our rights to privacy and freedom
of speech.
4 .. How do I ever explain to them that neither I or their parents
can ever afford to send them to college and the best they will be able
to look forward to is slaving for someone for maybe minimum wage or very
little above. That is if they are fortunate enough to get a job at all.
5 .. How do I ever explain to them that no matter what they do, if
they are unlucky enough that they ever have a major medical problem
which runs 10s or 100s of thousands of dollars, they are really in a
bad spot because they can now no longer declare bankruptcy due to the
banking bill that was passed and yes with some Democrats voting yes on it?
6 .. How do I ever explain to them why they now owe as a citizen of this
nation 10s upon 10s of thousands of dollars each on our national debt and
that it is only going to get worse?
7 .. And finally and I guess most important of all when they ask where was
the opposition party when all this happened?
Do I tell them well we were keeping our powder dry for when things really
go too far?
Do I tell them that we were checking to see which way the political wind
was blowing?
Do I tell them that we had too many of our leaders positioning to increase their
opportunity to be the next Democratic candidate or to be appointed to this
committee or that one, so we continued to have splits and divisions within our
party when what we needed was a united front against these assaults.
Or do I just have to suck up and tell them that since the horrible day of
9/11/2001 America as a democracy ceased to exist?
Now in all fairness I freely admit that since our party is the minority we
are quite limited in what we can do. That does not however excuse the lack
of forceful fighting this soon to be if not already dictatorship that has
been robbing our country of every thing from it's freedoms to it's wealth.
I have not seen anywhere near enough of the Democrats standing up and
passionately fighting for our country and it's citizens at every opportunity
it can get in front of the media. Not only that but it must be done in such
a way that ever Joe and Jane Nobody out on the farm understand what is
happening to our country.
I absolutely believe that all our elected members that we send to Washington
are completely out of touch with the real people of our country. You see most
people do not pay a lot of attention to politics and most do not get their
news from anything but TV. Even with the MSM being behind the administration
there is no real excuse for not taking full advantage to assert the message
of how dangerous this President and Republican control are at every single
chance one of our own is able to be on the Screen.
Sir I am sad to say that after all these years I am at the point where I am
not just disgusted with what the Republicans have been doing, but I am also
disgusted that our own party has not fielded a much stronger fight against
this from the very start of it all.
I am saddened by the fact that for whatever reason the real threat to our
once great nation is not being met by a unified party in opposition to all
this.
I know that you are only one man, but Sir the fact is that you are a powerful
voice within our party. Please use that voice very wisely and what ever it takes
lets at least see if we can unite this party and fight like we should.
Respectfully from a long time admirer supporter that is now a sad Democrat.
