To keep everyone abreast of who is or isn't conspiring with the NSA to violate our privacy rights, I thought I'd post this reply from RCN Customer Service.
RCN is my telephone company (both local and long-distance). Last night, I sent them a simple question: Has RCN turned over any of my phone records to the NSA?
Apparently not. RCN is one of the good guys, like Qwest. They should be applauded. Their very thoughtful and TELLING reply is below the fold.
In response to your recent email in regards to recent news stories about the National Security Agency, RCN did not provide information to NSA and are committed to the privacy and confidentiality of our customer's personally identifiable information. RCN maintains a privacy policy under which RCN does not disclose such information unless disclosure is required by legal process. I have provided a link below for RCN's privacy policy in its entirety.

So read carefully: RCN does not disclose info unless compelled by law. RCN did not provide info to the NSA. Like Qwest, RCN maintained its customers' privacy. The other telcos voluntarily violated their customers' trust. They were not compelled to turn over the info by law. They did so on their own accord.
