Joe Klein's TIME piece, "Easy Targets for Karl Rove" is depressing in a number of ways, but the worst part is that he refers to Congressman Conyers as an "embarrassment" and part of "an ancient band of left-liberals who grew up in the angry hot-house of inner-city, racial-preference politics of the 1960's."
WTF??!! Conyers is a HERO.

My letter is below:
In "Easy Targets for Karl Rove," Joe Klein refers to Congressman John Conyers as an "embarrassment." To whom? All those spineless Democrats who have done nothing but whimper, quake and obfuscate in the face of vociferous attacks by Rove and the Republicans? Far from being an embarrassment, Conyers is a great American hero to me and thousands (perhaps hundreds of thousands) of other progressive American citizens who believe that Bush deserves to be impeached for crimes too numerous to list. Congressman Conyers' "What What Wrong in Ohio" is a meticulous account of how our voting system was subverted in 2004 and a wake-up call to all. His efforts to investigate the Downing Street Memo regarding the manipulation of pre-war intelligence was valiant. Thank God for legislators like Conyers who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in and are willing to stick their necks out in order to represent their constituents and protect our democracy.
