With Bush's numbers in the toilet, Tony Snow said that the administration is positive. "Economy is doing well", and that there is a lot of positive with this administration. So what does the nation have to look forward to after the November elections. If all goes right with the voting, which we know it, won't. (There will be some glitches, if not out right tampering of votes.) Read on.
I think that even with the low poll numbers that Bush is experiencing, the democrats will not take control of the Senate, but they do have a chance at Congress. Now this is based on the here and now, we have seen that a lot can happen in six and a half months. One thing is clear we need to get as many seats back as we can.
Let us say the democrats do regain the control, will things really change that much? Will we see some probes that could lead to Impeachment hearings, or will we see what we are seeing and hearing from some of the democrats, that we don't need that black eye on America right now. I know you are saying to yourself, or screaming at your computer, "What about Nancy Pelosi, and Russ Feingold?" Correct me if I am wrong, [I know you will,] but Pelosi has backed off those statements. ["For the good of the party".] Right now, Bush's rating is lower than Clinton's ever were, and I believe lower the even Nixon's. So why not use that. I mean, that if the country has lost total faith in the Resident, he should go. Isn't that what corporations do if the stockholders lose confidence in the C.E.O.? He should be asked to resign or face impeachment. I think that's fair.
So what is the Democrat's platform, have they even come up with one? From what I have seen of the few ads for the primaries their theme is, "I am accountable." Ok that's a start.
The current administration has done a great job on making sure that certain subjects taboo. They put a lock on the, bring the troops home, "NOW" aspect. They have now made it that if you bring that up, you are a coward, because you what to CUT and RUN. Look what they did to Murtha. The G.O.P brought Murtha's honor in to question; they even were going to from a committee and look into ethics charges against him. The Republicans in Congress wrote a resolution that was like Murtha's, but made it where the troops would be pulled right a way. Murtha's resolution called for a gradual pullback of the troops to the borders. The press and republicans failed to make that known before and after the vote on the resolution. Therefore, it looked as if Murtha did not even have the backing of his own party. I believe he really didn't.
If you look closely, you can see what wedge issues the Republicans are going to use in the "08" election, and to a lesser degree in the "06" mid-terms. They have already brought to the surface, The Federal Marriage Amendment. The reason you will always get this issue in one form or another is that they want the Christian base to come out on this issue and they have them hating the left.
Immigration is an issue I would not touch in an election year at all. You cannot win. Guns will always be brought up, every time. As my friend Snafu always says, Guns, God, and Gays, it is the republican mindset.
One thing I have noticed in conversations with republicans, and so called moderates, there is now more than ever another "G" word that applies to that mind set, Greed. Not that it has not always been there, it is just that it is more wide spread. In the past five years even though it was not in the interest of the country, they jumped up and down over the Tax cuts though they were relatively small, when you consider what it has done to the country. If you thing about it you got a few hundred dollars, and your children and grandchildren will pay back trillions of dollars. That's like a person I use to work with. He would not buy Life Insurance, because he was not going to pay his wife to have a good time after he died. Just plain stupid reasoning.
Isn't it true; there has been tampering and fraud in all elections of high stature? From the township Supervisors to the race for Mayor of a city, and even President of The United States. Here in Pennsylvania we had our Mid-term primaries, and for the first time in my area it was done on a computerized voting machine, [Diebold no less.] I wrote a diary on the failure of the type of E-machine we used just weeks before it was to be used. I really expected many problems, but I was wrong according to most reports around the state. There were some polling places that had to go to paper ballots after malfunctions shut the machines down. So far what I am hearing the day went smoothly overall. There were a few glitches, and a few human mistakes
In commenting on a diary about the Pa. primary, I told of a problem with the access cards that were used for our machines in Washington County, at our polling place in Independence Township. Only three out of the 15 cards were working in the machines. It seems that they could not be programmed. Last night after talking to my Aunt (who works our poll downtown), the card programmer made the mistake, not the machine.
When it comes to these machines passing the test we will see in "08". The biggest bitch I have about the Diebold AccueVote Tsx Touch Screen, there is no paper anywhere. As I told my wife when we left the Fire hall, you don't know if that vote was good or not. If we got a receipt, you could say hey, this is whom I voted for. If the machine goes down and there is memory lose how will they know what the votes are. So I am going to write, and e-mail from the Washington Pa. all the way to Washington DC, and demanded that we get a paper trail, no matter how much it cost. (The machines we have are about 500.00 per unit.) If I am told that we do not have the money, I will start a fundraising effort, it is that important.
