There was an excellent rally down at the White House today. It was a combination of the Spiritual Progressives Conference and the DontAttackIran coalition (from AfterDowningStreet). Cindy Sheehan and Ray McGovern were there, as well as leaders from a wide variety of faiths. There was singing, dancing, shouting, speeches, prayers, rain, sunshine, and a whole lot of peace. After the gathering, a petition with over 40,000 signatures asking Bush not to attack Iran was delivered to the White House, and then we marched from the White House to Donald Rumsfeld's house, chanting and singing. Cindy was radiant as usual, and the whole scene was really nice.
I don't have all the names, or a great deal of information, but I wanted to put a short diary up about this event because, since nobody got arrested, and no damage was done, it won't get any media attention. As Tony Hendra might say, the revelation will not be televised.

More actions June6, 2006, and International Peace day is Sept. 21. I strongly recommend joining in anti-war activities wherever you are, and especially helping to build the crowd at events that you can get to without travelling too far.
More people probably have more to add about this event, or about the anti-war and anti-nuclear movement in general so here is a starting point, if anybody wants to do it.
We Declare Peace!
