I've been trying to get
Advokit working on a spare PC of mine for the last week or so, and am getting increasingly frustrated. I've pored over documentation and forum postings about Ubuntu Linux, apache2, PHP5, and mysql, which describes the setup I'm trying to use. This morning, after reading the headlines on various blogs (RSS is like crack to me) and some diaries on Daily Kos, it occurred to me that I may be looking in the wrong place for Advokit assistance.
I don't know the history of Advokit, but it's a free (as in beer AND as in speech) software package designed to manage political campaigns. It's at least two years old, so I'm sure it played some role in 2004 campaigns, and it wouldn't surprise me to find that it's in use right now by many campaigns. However, a search shows only two uses of the term in diaries and 15 in comments over the past three years, so I have no idea how widespread it is.
Anyone who has some experience or knowledge with this setup, please comment so we can talk offline. Thanks!
