Lloyd Bentson was a good one, and...
Today the WSJ sinks to a new low...
"Iraqis can participate in three historic elections, pass the most liberal constitution in the Arab world, and form a unity government despite terrorist attacks and provocations. Yet for some critics of the president, these are minor matters."
To focus on the supposed "achievements" recently in Iraq, while ignoring the sequence of events that have led us here is the height of dishonesty.
1.) "Bush lied".
Doesn't that even matter anymore? Where are the WMD's that Powell told the world about? In Syria? Sure.
2.) "The world now hates us".
Do we care that there are daily demonstrations all over the world street, (both Arab and non-Arab, thank you very much)?
3.) "We are commiting war crimes on a daily basis".
As Mr. Murtha points out tirelessly, and to his great peril thanks to Gonzales and his gang, our Army is sinking into a moral abyss, killing civilians and terrorising women and children.
We cannot allow publications like the Journal to try to argue backwwards from supposed results. I say, no matter how Iraq turns out, we went in for the wrong reasons, we have acted badly, and we need to regain out stature with the UN and our former allies.
Why is it that England, Italy, Spain, and France get it and our media doesn't?
