MoveOn
endorses Lamont. The vote was 85-14, which, if we play the expectations game, is a HUGE win for Lieberman.
Just kidding.
With 50,000 members in Connecticut, this endorsement is pretty darn huge.
Meanwhile, DFA has broken two bats for Lamont, with $61K raised from 1,461 in just a few short days.
Lieberman might cry about Lamont's millions, but our "small businessman from the humble town of Greenwich" is captivating the imagination of good Democrats around the nation and enlisting thousands of donors and volunteers. Lieberman may have Republican lobbyists, Sean Hannity and George Bush, but Lamont has people.
There wasn't a single stop in the 40 cities or so I hit the last nine weeks where someone didn't ask about the race. From Phoenix, to Tallahassee, to Louisville, to Minneapolis, to Atlanta, to Chicago, to Salt Lake City, and beyond. Everywhere I went people asked about this race, and everyone cheered when I mentioned Ned Lamont.
When in New Haven, speaking at a book signing that sort of turned into a Ned Lamont rally, I told the audience -- "You guys are an inspiration to this country, to good people everywhere. I don't want to put any pressure on you guys, but don't screw it up."
They won't.
