A year ago I made a commentment to myself -- that I wouldn't eat between meals and I wouldn't take seconds -- and I would try this for a year to see what happens. And I talked about it in comments and diaries
here and at
The Booman Tribune. And the conversations that came out of those diaries and comments inspired
Eat4Today.com. A place to discuss food and eating and the state of the world. There are a lot of us who are struggling with those issues and it's been interesting to build relationships with others who share my struggle.
But, Eat4Today.com largely unpolitical -- I don't want anyone to feel unwelcome there. So, I keep my politics out of it, except for my occasional rants about Universal Health Care for Everyone. But, I think that our health is a fundamental political issue. That our health issues have a significant effect on our political effectiveness.
So, I'm starting a weekly Eat4Today diary series for members of the dKos community. I'll post it early-ish on Saturday mornings. We can eat breakfast together as we talk about our progress. (on-to the flip!)
I begin everyday with this affirmation:
I'm not going to eat between meals and I'm not going to take seconds. Just today. And I'm going to try this for a year to see what happens.
And the change in my life from last year to this has been incredible. There have been other changes in my behavior, but it's all bound together by that early morning affirmation.
Could making a daily commitment help you with your weight goal? If you were going to make a daily commitment, what would it be?
