Kossacks,
Along with a grateful nation, I will honor the sacrifice of millions of brave Americans this weekend. I am a member of VFW Post 4283 in Dade City and will spend Memorial Day at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
However, I refuse to continue to let Ginny Brown-Waite and Washington Republicans dishonor our military men and women. I am running a campaign focused on improving veterans care in a district with more retired veterans than any district in the country. Today I want to take an opportunity to speak about some of Ginny Brown-Waite's failures.
When America sends men and women overseas to fight for us, America makes a promise to take care of those men and women when they come home. Supporting our troops is more than just a bumper sticker; when votes come up in Congress we have an obligation to provide for our troops.
When it came to provide funding for "quality of life" enhancements, Ginny Brown-Waite and the Republicans voted no. [H.R. 3289]
When it came time to provide U.S. Service Personnel with a pay raise of $1,500.00, Ginny Brown-Waite and the Republicans and voted no. [H.R. 3289]
When it came time to send back to Committee a Conference Report which failed to extend full retirement and disability benefits to US Veterans who were wounded in battle, Ginny Brown-Waite and the Republicans voted no. [H.R. 1588]
The Republicans need to take responsibility for a failed fiscal policy and a failed foreign policy, and quit trying to balance the budget on the backs of America's veterans. It's our duty to take care of the people who take care of us. We should honor and respect military service this Memorial Day by making sure that veteran's health care is available and affordable for them and their families.
I am running for Congress against Washington Republican Ginny Brown-Waite because she has failed our men and women in uniform and I have the plan and the experience to fix that.
Please take time to honor our fallen soilders this weekend. I ask that you also honor our veterans by contributing to and voting for Democratic candidates across the country. Together, we can change the tone of Washington.
