Ok, so no one here really thinks Fearless Leader's arguments for WMD ever really held water, and well, facts seem to play that out.
However, there are a disturbing high percentage of people still swallowing some version of the story (and they can't ALL be bought off by the GOP, can they).
So it is time to set the final word on WMD arguments (or at least try to).
We must begin by breaking down the arguements into groups. The two main points I will break down are assumptions. The first being that there really were WMDs in Iraq and the second that there were no WMDs.
First thing, state the facts. Bush and Co made the case for WMDs and a justification for entering Iraq. To date, no WMDs have been found.
So let's assume there were WMDs there (remember that line about "How do we know Iraq has WMDs? Because we still have the receipts.)
Ok, so Iraq has WMDs before we enter. We enter and plunge the country into chaos. Now we can't find find them. That means they are either so well hidden that our mega-billion military/intelligence can't find them or that they have been smuggled out of the country and into the hands of most anyone. So there are WMDs unacounted for, on the loose. Are we feeling more safe now?
Now, turn the tables and assume there were no WMDs.
State the facts. Bush and Co made the case for WMDs and a justification for entering Iraq. To date, no WMDs have been found.
So from let's take a HUGE leap of faith and take the position Bush was not lying intentionally, that the intelligence was simply wrong. That means our billions of billions of dollars have gone into programs that cannot distinguish between a WMD and a swimming pool. The very same programs that claim torture is a necessary tool for intellignce gathering. The same programs that want your library history, emails, and phone conversations. Are we feeling safer now?
Now, the final argument. There never were WMD and Bush and Co simply lied. They mislead the soldiers, mislead the people, and brought a modern day Crusade to the Middle East. Without provocation, without cause (beyond oil, I mean). And this man is still in charge, his finger on the button, his sights on Iran. Are we feeling any safer yet?
