Well well well.
This country's government has demanded no less than civil liberty squelching procedures and laws like the patriot act; ignoring existing laws like FISA in order to implement spying on Americans; and ignoring Congress when they protest and ask for an inquiry (well...not so much).
Now that they have this full-spectrum dominance on the home front with their wanton no-holds-barred domestic spying and data mining, are we safer?
Nope.

You'd think we'd be safer in SOME areas after we gave him a blank check on security for 5 long years.

WASHINGTON - A hacker stole a file containing the names and
Social Security numbers of 1,500 people working for the Energy Department's nuclear weapons agency.
But in the incident last September, somewhat similar to recent problems at the Veterans Affairs Department, senior officials were informed only two days ago, officials told a congressional hearing Friday. None of the victims was notified, they said.
The data theft occurred in a computer system at a service center belonging to the National Nuclear Security Administration in Albuquerque, N.M. The file contained information about contract workers throughout the agency's nuclear weapons complex, a department spokesman said.
Republicans, when are you gonna call it?
Update:
Apparently this was known for 9 months before reported.
This is the NY times article.
