Why oh why do the police have to act like hard-ons ready to explode at the slightest stroking of their 'terrorism muscle?"
According to this Guardian Story they've shot a guy in the UK for no reason. This is what you get for ramping up racism - fear mongering and itchy trigger fingers on the part of the people with the weapons. Sure, sure, the police have apologized - but it's lame. (Ahem, at least it's better than pretending that it didn't happen à la Haditha but it's an underhanded apology at best. Here's what the Assistant police commissioner Andy Hayman had to say. See if you can spot the idiocy:

"I apologise for the hurt that we have caused in tackling the terrorist threat in the UK," Mr Hayman said. "The police service is trying its utmost to work closely with all the communities and in particular the Muslim community."
in other words: "Oh we are SO sorry that we're trying to fight the terrorists out here. Like.. we TRY to not shoot ALL the muslims we see.. but you know. You all look alike."
Okay so I'm hostile. I'm not arab, male or a UK resident. Believe it or not (neo-cons) I'm not even a terrorist or an American NOR do I hate America and it's freedoms (what's left of them.) I just can't believe the audacity of shooting an unarmed someone on sight just because you were suspicious.
I don't know if any of you readers have ever been mistreated by police in a case of mistaken guilt. I have. It leaves a REALLY poor taste in your mouth. You go from absolute denial (which lasts approximately ten seconds till they handcuff you) to mere disbelief, to reasoning with them, to fear, to anger, an finally you spend the rest of time (I can imagine) in an overriding distrust of the judicial process.
And I wasn't shot. Mr. Koyair was.
This does absolutely no good for any 'war on terror.'
This will just make every Muslim terrified, and terrified people do some pretty incredible things.
