So yesterday Fearless Leader made a
surprise visit to Iraq. He had been hunkered down in Camp David to spend a whopping two days mulling over the Iraq debacle. That was the cover story. Apparently only Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice knew he was leaving. This was his first visit to Iraq since Nov 2003.
His visit has been called brave, courageous, and a good move. Unfortunately, it's not so optimistic for the soldiers who get
back door drafted and sent back for even longer tours.
We get to Nixon below the fold.
However, as always, Bush is just stealing plays from the master's book. Nixon already pulled the "suprise visit" card back in 1970 when he
snuck out of the White House to wander the hippie protest filled streets of DC. He was found by a worried staff talking to young people on the steps of the Lincoln memorial.
So how is visiting DC more important than visiting civil war ridden Iraq? Because DC is
much, much more dangerous, as we all know. So nice try, Bush, better luck next time at trying to out-Nixon Tricky Dick himself.
