I have one simple question. Are the Democrats blowing it again ? It seems that they very well could be as the debate over future Iraq strategy heats up, and troop withdrawal is discussed.
I have one simple question. Are the Democrats blowing it again ? It seems that they very well could be as the debate over future Iraq strategy heats up, and troop withdrawal is discussed. The Democrats are showing a split message from within the party opening a hole for a solid Republican attack. It is a familiar tune that has doomed them in the past including what eventually led to us enduring another 4 years of George W. Bush. Even the focus in the mainstream media is on the split in thinking among Democrats rather then the substance of the views presented. In addition the Rovian strategy is clearly to paint them as those wanting to "cut and run". You will hear those words alot and it probably will work eventhough we are far from safer under Republican rule. The illusion of strength on security seems to be enough for the American people to buy into. I think the Democrats are missing the mark by not shifting the debate to the very credibility of our leadership. They should be attacking the incompetence of the Bush administration. They need to force the Republicans to defend a record which at best is sickening. In fact the Democrats should stand and say they will demand real accountability, and dare I say they should not rule out impeachment as an option should they regain a majority. It comes down to showing real conviction this time, and unity. It is either that or the answer will be yes they are on the road to blowing it again.
