It's illegal for me to contribute, it's logistically impossible for me to volunteer since I'm not a citizen and don't live in the US. So I was a little bit in a quagmire because I really wanted to help turn things around and get Democrats back in power.
So, I thought what I could do instead. One month ago I started my own blog called Turn Tahoe Blue which has the aim of doing just that.
Now, I've gone one step further.
Ten years ago I was fortunate enough to be an exchange student and live with a loving and caring host family at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Ten years later I'm more than frustrated that the country I consider my second home and love dearly is in such a dire state because of the Republicans "governing" the country.
That's why I found my way to Daily Kos, MyDD and the progressive blogosphere several months ago. That's why I started my blog Turn Tahoe Blue. That's why I'm blogging there about news and campaign that matter to the Lake Tahoe area. And that's why I've created a Turn Tahoe Blue page at ActBlue which is basically the only legal thing I can do in terms of fundraising.
This is not only a special year nationally for Democratic candidates but especially so in the Lake Tahoe area. At the moment both sides of Tahoe are represented by Republicans in the House of Representatives. You can help Jill Derby get elected in NV-02 which is an open seat this year. Jill has a real chance to win this Republican district. All the more so since the Republicans are duking it out in a bloody threeway primary. You can also help Fighting Dem Charlie Brown beat Abramoff body John Doolittle in CA-04.
Furthermore don't forget about Jack Carter. He's a man of honesty and integrity who's campaign is underestimated by Beltway insiders but who can beat first termer and Bush rubber stamp John Ensign, the ensignificant Senator, if the netroots get behind him. Every cent you give will help a lot in such a small state as Nevada with a relatively cheap media market.
So, please check out my Turn Tahoe Blue page at ActBlue and contribute if you can.
Thank you for helping Turn Tahoe Blue!
