David Brooks, why do you hate democracy?
I can not imagine that you are so unfamiliar with a blogging, that an internet conversation would threaten you? Blogs like the Daily Kos have been born to counteract, the partisan poison that drips from your pen. We are tired of it. The New Left having experienced the Traditional Media's bias in stumping for the Republican Caucus, is the very reason we talk to each other. We are sick of the way we see the twisting of the truth, by you and your ilk. The Swiftboating of Democracy if you will.
Your NY Times column calling Marcus the "Kingpin" of Daily Kos is utterly disengious and nothing more than a Swift Boat (read as:Slanderous, Hate Filled Rhetoric, Not Based on Fact) of one of the most dynamic and exciting tools for democracy in years.
Instead of standing on the windy corner streets of Chicago on our soapboxes to give impassioned points of view, we gather at the internet cafe. We share ideas, we talk, we sling mud, even slinging it at ourselves. We are an unruly bunch and are hardly controled by Markos. In fact he just offers us a common page where we come to write. That is all.
And guess what Mr. Brooks. We have lots of ideas. And one of them is to try and regain some sanity in the "We the people......." part of the constitution. We our elected representatives actually function as such.
I can not imagine why you feel it neccessary to offer a slanderous swift boat style attack on a rowdy liberal internet conversation. Unless you consider sharing ideas traitorous.
And someone came up with the idea of a liberal convention wholly and completely born of people power, where even more ideas were shared. And guess what, it worked. It was a success. Does that threaten you? You see we want things to change for the better. And your obvious slander of a man who is so passionate about politics and change seems odd and well, stupid and hateful. But I guess you have outed yourself as a traitor to democracy.
Every era, has it's medium, from the street corner soapbox, to the "Extra, Extra, Read All About It, newspaper corner, to the radio of FDR, the television of Jack Kennedy. And now the internet, the most exciting development in spurring a people powered democracy ever. Where rich and poor, the ugly and the beautiful can come together and have a conversaton.
And your side has their say on the internet. You visited Pajamas Media, or Red State, Powerline. Apparently the rhetoric isn't selling. Those sites are not too popular. The hate does get old. And don't tell me we on the left of Bush Derangement Syndrome either. All we have to do is say Clinton, to send the right into fits and spasms of tortured grudes, or as I like to call it. Clinton Derangement Syndrome.
Today our conversation is about you David. And really, didn't your mother teach you better manners. Squadrons of rabid lambs.........? Laughable. Well here we come, and believe me when I tell you we are serious about this fight to get our democracy back. I personally don't especially appreciate the sacred constitution being shredded for the sake of power hungary leaders who operate in secrecy. And I will give you credit here David, for writing your hateful article and actually publishing it. There it is right out in the open for all of us to see and respond to. Well here is my response.
Shame on you Mr. Brooks.
You should be celebrating Democracy, not attacking it.
Why do you hate Democracy? It seems, well, treasonous.
