I've been doing a little research through the past week's transcripts of the Dobb's show.
Golly, he sure loves inviting racists to come be on his show. And he's awfully polite not to mention thier background and what nasty extremist organizations they belong to.
What a guy.
June 27, 2006 Lou's uber-guest was John Clark but Lou must have forgot to tell us the interesting background about his organization, the AICF.
John Clark, Washington lobbyist for the American Immigration Control Foundation
The AIC Foundation is designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
It's one of John Tanton's bankrolled network of anti-immigration save-the-white-race network groups.
Here's what the Southern Poverty Law Center says about the AICF:
American Immigration Control Foundation*
www.aicfoundation.com
The American Immigration Control Foundation, founded in 1983, has been headed since 1990 by John Vinson, a conspiracy-oriented Christian nationalist. Vinson wrote the AICF-published Immigration and Nation: A Biblical View, in which he claims that it is against God's will to weaken the "divinely unique" character of every nation.
In the case of America, Vinson makes clear in the booklet, that character belongs to English-speaking white Anglo-Saxon Protestants. In fact, Vinson attacks Catholics who came to America in the 19th century, claiming that because they did not understand God's plan, they foolishly supported a strong federal government and high taxes.
He says that assimilating "the races of the world" is "an impossible task," and argues that current immigration patterns may "destroy our nationhood." Vinson also attacks the "spiritual Balkanization" he says immigration of non-Christians promotes.
Closely tied to AICF is the lobbying group Americans for Immigration Control*, publisher of the newsletter Immigration Watch and distributor of an array of anti-immigrant books including the grotesquely racist French novel, The Camp of the Saints.
On June 26, 2006 Lou invited both Mr. Keely and Jim Gilchrist on for our edification:
John Keely, Center for Immigration Studies
Center for Immigration Studies is one of John Tanton's notorious network of well funded anti-immigrant racist organizations. It's a anti-immigration group
that spouts disinformation in the form of well packaged statistics. There goal is to spread propaganda in the mainstream
media and with the help of Dobbs they have been quite successful.
Jim Gilchrist, Minuteman co-founder
The Minuteman Project has become exactly what it was destined to become.. a cesspool organization attracting all manner of uber-racist
creeps and thugs, a development which apparantly hasn't bothered Mr. Gilchrist.
The Southern Poverty Law Center has been keeping track:
Neo-Nazis volunteered for Jim Gilchrist's recent congressional campaign and distributed racist propaganda at Gilchrist rallies with the full knowledge of the Minuteman Project co-founder and his campaign managers, according to a former Gilchrist campaign volunteer whose account is supported by photographs, video footage and postings on the white supremacist Web site Stormfront.
"They were basically allowing Skinheads and white nationalists to work the phone banks and do IT [computer work] and distribute National Alliance fliers targeting non-whites," Cliff May, a dance instructor in Orange County, Calif., told the Intelligence Report. "When I told Mary [Gilchrist's finance manager] and Eldon [Gilchrist's grassroots coordinator] that I didn't want to work for a campaign that was tainted by white supremacy in any way, they told me not to cause a stir.
"When I kept bringing it up, they kicked me out."
Here's a heart warming SPL Center report on one of the Minuteman camping trips on the border:
The night of April 3, armed vigilantes camped along Border Road in a series of watch posts set-up for the Minuteman Project, a month-long action in which revolving casts of 150 to 200 anti-immigration militants wearing cheap plastic "Undocumented Border Patrol Agent" badges mobilized in southeastern Arizona. Their stated goal was to "do the job our government refuses to do" and "protect America" from the "tens of millions of invading illegal aliens who are devouring and plundering our nation."
At Station Two, Minuteman volunteers grilled bratwursts and fantasized about murder.
"It should be legal to kill illegals," said Carl, a 69-year old retired Special Forces veteran who fought in Vietnam and now lives out West. "Just shoot 'em on sight. That's my immigration policy recommendation. You break into my country, you die."
Carl was armed with a revolver chambered to fire shotgun shells. He wore this hand cannon in a holster below a shirt that howled "American bad asses" in red, white and blue. The other vigilantes assigned to Station Two included a pair of self-professed members of the National Alliance, a violent neo-Nazi organization. These men, who gave their names only as Johnny and Michael, were outfitted in full-body camouflage and strapped with semi-automatic pistols.
On June 22, 2006 he had Ira Melman on the show. A day never goes by with out a racist on Lou Dobbs Tonight:
Ira Mehlman, Federation for American Immigration Reform
About the Federation for American Immigration Reform from the Southern Poverty Law Center:
Founded in 1978 by John H. Tanton, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is one of the country's best-established anti-immigration groups -- and the richest beneficiary among them of the largesse of the infamous Pioneer Fund.
The Fund, which has long subsidized dubious studies of the alleged links between race and intelligence, awarded FAIR $1.2 million between 1985 and 1994, according to the Institute for the Study of Academic Racism. FAIR now says that it has severed its links to the controversial Fund.
Today, FAIR claims a staggering 70,000 members, although that number is almost certainly inflated. Tanton remains on FAIR's board and also is the publisher of The Social Contract Press, which sells racist anti-immigrant tracts.
Dan Stein, the group's executive director, has warned that certain immigrant groups are engaged in "competitive breeding" aimed at diminishing white power. Rick Oltman, FAIR's western representative, has spoken before and worked with the racist Council of Conservative Citizens.
Garrett Hardin, a FAIR board member, has argued that aiding starving Africans is counterproductive and will only "encourage population growth." Overall, FAIR blames immigrants for crime, poverty, disease, urban sprawl and increasing racial tensions in America, and calls for a drastic cut in the numbers of those allowed in.
FAIR recently helped run a billboard campaign in Virginia blaming immigrants for traffic and sprawl. Last summer, FAIR attacked Sen. Spencer Abraham (R-Mich.), an Arab-American, for supporting more visas for foreigners with high-technology skills.
In radio and TV ads, it said Abraham's proposal could "make it easier for [Arab] terrorists like Osama bin Laden to export their way of terror to any street in America." FAIR's ads were condemned across the country and caused former Sen. Alan K. Simpson (R-Wyo.) to resign from FAIR's advisory board.
In a 1997 interview, Tanton said that unless U.S. borders are sealed, America will be overrun by people "defecating and creating garbage and looking for jobs."
June 21, 2006 - You gotta wonder...is it the Lou Dobbs show or the CIS show?
Steve Camarota, Center for Immigration Studies
(Dobb's favorite immigration expert? see above)
June 20, 2006 - NumbersUSA! OMG Lou... your getting scary man with this stuff. You really are.
Rosemary Jenks, NumbersUSA
NumbersUSA is directed by Roy Beck. Beck is editor of "Social Contract"
publishes articles by white nationalists. NumbersUSA is part of John Tanton's
racist anti-immigrant network of organizations and is a subsidery of USA Inc.,
which funnels millions of dollars into it's front groups from the donations of
a small number extremist but very rich ultra-right contributors. The NumbersUSA
organization specializes in lobbying Washington politicians... it's the main lobbying group behind the anti-immigrant legislation. Unfortunately NumbersUSA does it job very effectively and it wisely keeps itself out of the public eye and in the background.
Tancredo and NumbersUSA have struck up a wonderful friendship by the way. He speaks at thier conferances and doesn't even mind sharing the stage with holocaust deniers or other sundry fellow travelers of the group.
June 19, 2006 - The Minuteman again.
Jim Gilchrist, Minuteman co-founder
(see above for this regular Dobb's guest)
June 15, 2006 - The CIS again.
Steve Camarota, Center for Immigration Studies
(Dobbs really loves this guy, see above)
I quit reading the transcript history at this point.
I could go on, but what would be the point. Reading Dobb's show transcripts is very much like playing the same tune over and over. The format is the same every night.
One clear part of the formula is fronting propaganda for the right wing racist organizations and helping them
achieve thier most cherished wet dream of becoming part of accepted 'mainstream' America.
Mix that up with some good old populist demogogery and flag waving... isn't that how all fascist movements get started?.. and you pretty much have the pattern for Lou Dobbs Tonight.
CNN is responsible for Lou Dobb's incredibly priviledged access to American living rooms.
IMHO it's worse than FoxNews because Lou Dobbs has managed to dress his drumbeat of racist propaganda up in sheep's clothing and serve it out to a large and gullable American audience over and over, every night.
Truly, the American mainstream media is dead, or maybe something far worse...
