Ok, well I may be way off the beaten path here. I somewhat support Ned Lamont, somewhat hate Joe Lieberman, but I'm a voter in Michigan. I have other fish to fry. With Markos' daily grinding away at JL, and the story now going
Mainstream, Lamont is truly gaining steam.
But this quote stuck out for me:
...a Greenwich millionaire cable company executive named Ned Lamont.
Let me repeat...a millionaire.
I am all for the netroots candidates. I encourage you to donate for anybody with liberal or democratic credentials. I just don't think that Ned need your money right now.
Most challengers without name recognition are simply drowned out by the huge campaign coffers of incumbents, and Lamont won't have this problem. Worth in excess of $90 million, he has already invested more than $1.5 million of his own money, much of which has paid for radio and TV ads; Lamont says he'll start airing a bio ad this week introducing himself to voters.
So a few of points I will leave with you. I don't think our small level support will make that big of an impact on a Conneticut primary where millions of dollars are being spent. Ned is a worthy challanger to Joe, I wish him well and hope he wins. There are other netroot candidates that could use your money more than Ned. You could be better served by GOTV or volunteering for Ned. You could donate your money to Howard Deans 50 State Strategy. You could donate to a local foodbank or homeless shelter.
Peace.
