In Virginia today, Democratic Senate Candidate Jim Webb did to George Allen what John Kerry should have done to the Swift Boat phonies two years ago - tore him a new ass-hole!
Well, last week I said I would talk about the Supreme Court again this week, and I will soon - but Jim Webb's counter to George Allen's attack on Webb's opposition to the Flag Amendment was too good to wait on another news cycle for anyone here who hasn't heard about it.
Predictably, (and Webb obviously expected it), when Webb announced that if he were now a Senator he would vote against the phoney "Flag Protection" amendment, Allen attacked him as "beholden to liberal Democrat Senators" if failing to "protect" the flag. Webb, a decorated Marine Vietnam vet replied with both barrels blazing:
"George Felix Allen Jr. and his bush-league lapdog (spokesman) have not earned the right to challenge Jim Webb's position on free speedh and flag burning. Jim Webb served and fought for our flag and what it stands for, while George Felix Allen Jr. chose to cut and run. When he and his disrespectful campaign puppets attack Jim Webb, they are attacking every man and woman who served. Their comments are nothing more than weak-kneed attacks by cowards. While Jim Webb and others of George Felix Allen's generation were fighting for our freedom and our symbols of freedom, George Felix Allen Jr. was playing cowboy at a dude ranch in Nevada."
Wow! I love it! Especially the unadulterated plain language, the use of Allen's middle name, which he hates and most of all - that Webb was ready and came back within hours of Allen's statement. It goes without saying that if John Kerry had done the same, he would be President today. We got us a candidate!
