This is pretty impressive. "An Inconvenient Truth" is at #9 in the
box office this weekend.
For this kind of film, #9 is pretty darn good. But what is really impressive, what is astonishing to me, is that it made it there currently showing at 77 theaters.
Wow!
Probably the only thing more astonishing this weekend, is that RV continues to stay in the top 10.

UPDATE: Noticed that some were asking for some context.
"An Inconvenient Truth" made an estimated (actuals won't come out until late Monday/early Tuesday) $1,332,000. Since it was only showing at 77 theaters, it took in a little over $17,000 per theater over the weekend.
The Number 1 film this weekend, "The Break Up", took in an estimated $38,053,000. Since it was showing at 3,070 theaters, it took in not quite $12,500 for each theater over the weekend.
It is pretty rare when a movie playing in less than 100 theaters breaks the top 20, much less the top 10. You do see movies make even more per theater over a weekend than $17,000, but usually it is either a major blockbuster, or something playing at 20-30 theaters.
Any way you hack it, the movie is doing quite well. Too bad it isn't showing in more places.
