For those of you who think the DLC way for Democrats to recapture Congress this Fall is the way to go, you may be interested in learning that as a result of the DLC's fumbling on Francine Busby's campaign, this failure has led to the beginnings of a
"Dump Rahm Emmanuel" movement from his position as DCCC Chair.
To gain more flavor for this, read about it here:
http://www.planetarymovement.org/... as well as the take on the California primary here:
http://news.yahoo.com/....
The campaign for Duke Cunningham's old seat was intended as a bellwether campaign; one that if the Democrats won, it was to have set the stage for the outcomes of the midyear campaigns in November. Additionally, Emmanuel's success (if accomplished) would elevate him to consideration of his replacing Nancy Pelosi as Minority Leader, and possibly, House Speaker, should the Democrats take back the majority in Congress. However, the same, tired old, DLC schtick has reared it's head again, and the failure to assist Busby in fending off the attack from the Billbray campaign by not dealing with the immigration issue, cost her the election. This was admitted on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" this morning.
As Kos stated, we're tired of "moral" victories that "come close, but no cigar" campaigns. We must eviscerate the DLC's method of campaigns that continue to place us on this losing trend that has been running for 12 years.
My responses to DLC mailers coming from the DNC website, short of Chairman Howard Dean, has been to tell them "until the DLC is toast, I'm not sending you a dime...". I only send my hard earned cheese to direct requests from Dean himself, and not any DLC types that use the DNC to shake us progressives down for cash.
Emmanuel is toast. And Pelosi better consider him another shark that's swimming around her, just like Steny Hoyer.
