I will not be in attendance. For one, I have a limited vacation schedule/budget, and choose to spend it with my young children. Second, I treasure my anonimity, and wouldn't want to sacrifice it (by the way- I am 24, 6 foot 4, weight about 210, with a 185 IQ. And I can cook, and speak eight different languages). Finally, I am pretty sure you all wouldn't really like me all that much in person- I am able to stick around here by carefully choosing my threads with caution, and even there I have often had the sense to just delete what I have typed without sending it- can't really do that in person.
But, for those who are going- have a great time!! Please, enjoy yourselves- don't spend all your time in the "All the elections are going to keep getting stolen and there's nothing we can do about it" buffet- come back better for the experience. Let me offer seven other pieces of advice, if I may.
7) Getting married by Elvis is not a "goof". Divorce and annulments cost money. Want to do something stupid- jump in one of the fountains. Much cheaper.
6) Real World vs Blog- if you find yourself speaking with someone who is defending Joe Lieberman, remember to use your "real world" manners- discuss and debate, passionately if you will, but civilly. Or, walk away. Do not scream "I am a troll hunter!!" and harpoon the guy in the heart. Poor media coverage will certainly follow.
5) Liquor before beer- in the clear. Beer before liquor- never sicker.
4) Keep comments regarding the irony of attacking the dominance of major corporations and the decadence of capitalism while inside of a major Las Vegas casino hotels to a minimum. It's just too damn obvious.
3) Never split 8's against a ten or a face card. There's a school of thought that says you should against an ace, but I don't buy it. Remember- the only thing worse than losing your hand is losing two.
2) I beg you all to avoid group think. When you all return next week, please don't sound like the liberal blog version of the Stepford Wives. And if the next straw poll shows a dramatic switch toward one candidate, I'm outta here.
and, the final piece of advice in the comments section below...
