The first Heather Wilson ad of the 2006 campaign is on the air and it's a doozy. When you see the ad, keep in mind that Wilson is spending $200,000 in July and is going up on the air six weeks earlier than she has in past campaigns. This is a clear indication that there was a lot of good news for Patricia Madrid in Wilson's recent unreleased poll.
You can watch the ad on YouTube:
The ad begins with Wilson saying:
People sent us there to get things done on problems that matter to them.
That's right, Rep. Wilson, people sent you to Congress to get things done for them. Instead, you have gotten things done for President Bush. From tax cuts for the wealthy to the Medicare Part D Disaster to big oil energy policies to the war in Iraq, you haven't been getting problems solved for people - you've been rubber stamping President Bush's agenda.
Wilson continues...
New Mexicans are an independent people. They want somebody to stand up for them. They want somebody to fight for New Mexico.
This sounds like an ad for Patricia Madrid. She is an independent fighter that puts people first. Heather Wilson votes with the Republican leadership 90% of the time. And, on issues that matter to New Mexicans, Wilson walks in lock step with President Bush.
The fact is that New Mexicans are wising up to Heather Wilson's illusion of independence. Heck, President Bush himself said that he was "close to Heather" and in his recent speech at a fundraiser that raised $375,000 for her campaign, he thanked her for supporting his agenda.
When you see this ad, rest assured knowing that it's all smoke and mirrors. And, do something to fight back.
