As my personal calendar turns another year today, I do my normal introspection and find I am getting sadder every day of this current administration, congress and judiciary. This group has divided my country so deeply, I am not sure it will ever heal. I am called a terrorist loving, liberal loony and traitor.
It does not matter that I served in the military like so many others here. It does not matter that after 9/11 I went down to volunteer my time to help (My MOS was 2671, Arabic Crypto Logical Linguist); which is a fancy way of saying Arabic Translator that cost you all over 100K in 1984/85. They said no, we do not take volunteers. So here it is almost 5 years later, I am still wasting 20 hours a week watching television, time that I was willing to give up. My eyes are getting very tired of seeing what is going on in our country, more tired than they should be at 41.
I know the old wives tale, if you say your wish out loud it does not come true; but hey I did not get that sports car and the double mint twins when I turned 22, so here it goes...
I wish those who support this destructive government of ours, look at your children and see that every promise that they have is being destroyed before they get a chance to live.
I wish those whose hatred of Gays causes them to vote for those who destroy all that is good in our country, that their eyes and hearts be opened.
I wish those who hate someone for the color of their skin or their language, that their eyes and hearts be opened.
I wish that those who use fear to gain profit and riches, that they come to know how evil they are.
I wish for at least one day, the media actually report the truth.
I wish that those who think we will go away or implode gain the understanding that we are not. We all know here the sky is blue, we only argue what shade.
I wish those who question anyone's religion from their pulpit, come to know they are the ones who need God.
I wish for peace, for everyone.
I wish I never have to wish for the above wishes again.
I wish a happy birthday for all others who share this day.
I wish for a sports car and the Double Mint Twins, which I am afraid is the most likely to come true.
