A couple of days ago, when the fit first hit the shan in Lebanon, I postulated that it was all connected and all part of a larger "plan" (specifically, PNAC's plan).
You can read it here, if you so choose.

The comments didn't rise to "tin-foil hat" land - thanks for that - but there were doubts expressed.
But....stay with with me here....
Every report coming out of the fighting seems to include the word "Iran." Right from the beginning. Have you noticed?
Israel whispers that the captives were being taken to Iran.
Israel says the missile (apparently not a UAV, ABC is reporting this morning) that hit the ship was Iranian.
Israel says that Iranian soldiers are in Lebanon.
I can't help but believe that the hard-liners, sore about Bush stopping short in Iraq, are doing an end-run. They're using the tools in the media to rouse the rabble, coaching everything in terms of Iran and Syria to convince the American people that we can't get anything done until we "do" both of those nations.
Are Iran and Syria involved? To some extent, no doubt. They have been for years over there.
But just follow the pattern here: Israel pulls back from a few places, they grab a score or so Palestinian officials after some violence in Gaza. Hezbollah, predictably, retaliates, and BAM! Israel looses the dogs of war.
And all of those dogs bark, "Iran, Iran, Iran!"
It looked like Condi beat back Cheney in the first round, leading with diplomacy over air strikes, and the military urged caution to the hawks on nukes, according to the reliable Sy Hersh -

And now this. The convenience is too...too Bushworld, sorry. And of course, we've got those little elections coming soon, where Republicans are in dire trouble, according to polls. Almost time to roll out the product, yes?
If I lived in Tehran, I'd be looking up and crouching down.
Am I paranoid? Probably (I hope I am), but I simply cannot trust anything regarding an administration that brags:
"That's not the way the world really works anymore. We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''

Indeed, and that reality is going to rain on Iran, and soon.
