U.S. Rep. Barbara Cubin (R-Wyo.) fell behind Democratic challenger Gary Trauner in the second quarter both in fundraising and in cash on hand.
Trauner surpassed Cubin in second quarter FR by $24,000 despite her three-to-one advantage in PAC donations. Her haul from in-state individual donations was a paltry $40,000. Naturally, she is trying to make the story all about how Trauner raises a lot from rich people in Teton County and from out of state, although those same sources made up more than a third of her individual donations this past quarter.
Here's the Casper Star-Tribune article:
Cubin is a six-term incumbent who first won her seat in 1994 and had never won her seat by less than 10 or 11 points. But Rasmussen had her ahead only 47 to 43 back in early May.
Trauner has just gone up on TV for the first time this year and has a lot of ads on the radio. The candidate has also knocked on 10,000 doors personally, or close to 8 percent of the state's voter households.
