This is a short one and just an offering of my straight-up observation. I am on duty at the moment as a Reservist (in the States). Now first thing, the military network is very tightly regulated (blogs aren't blocked...yet) so that it is very hard to enjoy many videos that are offered online, let alone from news websites. If they are not in wmf format or in flash format, no dice. Anyway, I found that there is a system setup to allow streaming to our official computer desktops through the firewall. It is administered by the military and guess what news site is virtually the only one available on this stream (at least thus far)? Go on, guess.
That's right, Fox news. Fox can be streamed but not any other. I was told that others would be offered later but for now, Fox is it. Of course, if you go into the base hospital for some reason and sit in any waiting room with TVs in it, what channel do you suppose is showing? That's right, Fox. I've never ever seen anything but Fox displayed.
Now on the web I can access CNN, Fox, and MSNBC but due to restrictions cannot view most videos on the sites. What is restricted is Abc News. Is there something "offensive" (to the Wingers running the show) about ABC News of which I am unaware? I have passed in a request for an explanation as to why this website is blocked so we'll see if they offer a reasonable explanation but really...
Just a quick observation.
