Friends, bloggers, Kossacks, lend me your eyes;
I come to Crash the Gate, not just peer over it.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with the Gate. The noble Markos
Hath told you kossacks were ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath a kossack answer'd it.
My name is Andre Araujo and I am proud to say that I am on the November 2006 ballot for the School Committee in Cranston, RI's second ward.
Friends, for your consideration,
I am asking for your support and help with the upcoming election.
A little bit about me, I am a 32 year old married father of a young daughter attending public school. We own a single family home in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Cranston.
I am a civilian employee of the US Navy, I serve as an enlisted technical sergeant with the RI Air National Guard and I am also a vestry board member of the Church of the Ascension in Cranston (Episcopal).
I graduated from East Providence Senior High School in 1991. I received and honorable discharge from the US Air Force in 1997. I hold two associates degrees, one from Community College of Rhode Island and the other from the Community College of the Air Force, and I am now nearing completion of my bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island.
This is my first political race. Like many of you, I share the passion for political change in this country. I stay informed and I follow the issues closely. I donate money and time to candidates and causes that I feel best enable this country and the world to become a better place for all of us.
I felt as though that now the time is right to enter the arena and take up the fight. I feel like I can make a difference and that I will make the difference that is badly needed.
This is the hardest part for any politician, asking for money.
Everyone knows that campaigns are expensive adventures. Leaflets, palm cards, lawn signs and websites all cost money.
Now, I humbly ask of you, to visit my website - http://andreforschools.com and if so inclined, make a small donation. I am not asking for much, a dollar or two and if you feel generous five dollars but I will not accept any more than that. This is the local school committee and not the US Senate.
I thank you all!

While blogging last night, a severe thunderstorm came by. Power went out for about 30 minutes. It returned and went out again for another 30 minutes. An oil tanker docked at the Port of Providence was struck by lightening and exploded! click here for news
