Mr. Zappa became another hero of mine when I watched the first video above. In it, he presciently predicted part of what I, and many others here, believe is ailing America today, the rise of the fascist theocracy. In my mind, this is a two pronged assault on the evolution of man. It keeps the good guys primitive and ignorant and makes the bad guys fat and happy.
I listen to Noam Chomsky, the second video above, and I get the opposite visceral effect that I get when GW 'speaks'. I have a genuine reverence for a meek man who looks into the eyes of the devil (F. Buckley, in the case of the above video) without fear, without gain (for himself) and without self. He transcends the argument. He is willing to swim in their cesspool and beat them at their own game, patiently asserting uncontroversial facts, while Buckley carries on, not about things that he believes, but things that benefits his particular position. Noam represents truth and justice. One Noam Chomsky is worth a million Bush Buckleys.
Buckley represents, well, damn that guy gives me the creeps. Is he like the real life political Hanibal Lectur or what? You know he eats live puppies and crumpets for breakfast. He is a leader in one of those big smart right wing think tanks? Are you kidding me? Good thing those are well funded. I find myself dumbfounded by this. He is like one fine suit and a chromosome away from being a slithery reptile. If Democrats can not paint him and his into the slimy corner where they belong then we should just surrender and find another planet.
I think Mr. Buckley deserves another paragraph because he does really scare me, honestly, and I can't really write exactly how. He oozes evil. But maybe I'm wrong. But in any case this is my diary and I propose a solution. A job change. Change his name to Buckey, put him in a sheep outfit and give him a job at the kiddy rodeo so he can bring smiles where there was once a menacing, pompous, chilly, lifeless smirk.
Whereas before I was apathetic, the crossroads of 911 and George Walker Bush marks the place where I started looking around and I'm not ashamed to tell you that I've become a stark raving moonbat from hell. Perhaps I've been the worse type of American, just coming out of the woodwork to throw rocks at the Bush administration, when, before, my political stance could be summed up as 'small government good'. I really don't know. Yet, though I'm angry, I'm not beyond contemplating whether or not my anger could play a roll in perpetuating the very things that have spawned my rage.
If you are speaking the truth, does it matter that you are angry? Should I worry about semantics when I say that 'condoned from the top' torture is a bad thing? If we can not elevate ourselves above 'them' then who are we but them disguised as the good guys?
Which leads me to the reason I started this entry. Let the republicans play the perception game. Gay marriage, flag burning and immigration, though important, are red herring diversions meant to keep pressing, politically disasterous issues off the table. Would the troops be better off with the house pontificating about flag burning or figuring out what happened to the X billion dollars that is supposed to be used there to protect them and America?
I suggest a new campaign for Democrats called The Truth. Speak it loud and proud and clear. I don't care if you are angry, sad or indifferent. Speak the truth and let the chips fall where they may. The truth benefits all americans.
The Truth
1) Food, empathy and education fight terror better than guns.
There are many more terrorists today than there were 911.
If someone tells you that is because of the liberal media, punch them in the
mouth. Seriously.
2) The world ecology and the world economy are at odds.
And you don't have to have 10 thousand eminent scholars prove it either.
Look in your backyard.
3) Our political system is hemorrhaging blood and cash.
Ask yourself who gets the blood and who gets the cash?
4) The founding fathers are probably angry moonbats as well.
