If anyone cares I have decided today that I can no longer call myself a Democrat in the State of Georgia.
My thoughts of leaving the party started back in 2004 when with the help of "Democrats" the Georgia legislature passed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage... and for all intents and purposes civil unions. The ballot measure passed with 76% of the vote in 2004. That is fine if it makes 76% of the people in Georgia happy to discriminate against a minority... hooray for them (remember we are talking Georgia... I guess they get off on discrimination down here). My partner and I will continue to live our lives with dignity.
The Democratic Party door hit me in the ass during our most recent primary election. Cathy Cox our "Democratic" Secretary of State who in 2004 said the amendment was not necessary because we already had a DOMA in Georgia flipped her position and said that we needed the amendment to protect marriage (or some crap like that).
Finally, putting the icing on the cake, locking the door and throwing away the key our "Democratic" nominee for governor, Mark Taylor (current Lt. Gov), stated during the campaign that HE WOULD SIGN A BAN ON GAY ADOPTION IF ELECTED. There you go folks... when a majority of "Democrats" voted to put this man on the ballot as the "Democratic" candidate for governor... I left the Democratic Party.
I now officially call myself an independent...
Got to HELL Georgia democrats... go to f---ing HELL!!!
